Kutia Kondhs usually stay in the southern region of the state. They are famous for their strong and unique social organization. As an endogamous community they have their distinct language, territory and style of life. There are groupings among them for various social purposes which is reflected in pattern of management of individuals and groups within the prescribed social framework. The Kutia Kondh families are mostl nuclear. The major social, economic and religious activities revolve around the family. The climate in Kutia Kondh area is comparatively cooler. The hills around the village is marked by dense mixed forest and one of the common species in the forest is sal. Other bushy huge trees like mango, kusum, mahul have also play significant roles in their socio-cultural and economic lives. They use the reserve forest close to their habitat for shifting cultivation.
