Sundargarh

Sundargarh ITDP was established in the year 1975 under TSP Guidelines which was registered as ITDA in the year 1979 under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. The Jurisdiction of the ITDA Sundargarh comprises of 1 revenue Sub-Division, 9 Blocks namely Balishankara, Baragaon, Hemgiri, Kutra, Lephripara, Rajgangpur, Subdega, Sundergarh, & Tangarpali, 136 GPs and 791 villages. It is bounded by Panposh ITDA in the East, Raighar district of Chhatisgarh in the West, Ranchi district of Jharkhand in the North and Sambalpur district in the South.  The ITDA is situated 21⁰ 45’N and 22⁰ 32’ N Latitude and 83⁰ 32’E to 84⁰ 45’E. The geographical area of the Sundargarh ITDA is 3421.10 Sq. Kms. Total forest area is about 785.88 sq. kms. The ITDA area exhibits widely diversified tract of mountains, in accessible forests and extensive river valleys. The climate of the area is sub-tropical. The Maximum Temperature is 45.4⁰ C and the minimum temperature is 5.9⁰ C. The normal annual rainfall of the district is about 1311mm. The whole ITDA area has some historical places, namely Ghogar of Balishankara Block which is famous for natural Shiva Linga of Black Granite where Shivaratri Festival occurs, Mahavir Cave of Bargaon Block which is famous for natural Shivalinga, Junagarh is famous for fort historical and archaeological importance, with some ancient caves having marks of Tantra worship, Koili Ghogara has a beautiful water fall & picnic spot, Usha Kothi is famous for its sylvan beauty which attracts many visitors and Mandira Dam of Rajgangpur Block is famous as a picnic spot and Shiva Temple.  IB and Brahmani are two important rivers flowing in the ITDA area. The soil type is Black, Red and sandy. The major crops grown in the ITDA area are paddy, wheat, ragi, greengram, mustard, nizer, ginger, till, horsegram, ground nut & arhar.

    Panposh ITDP was established in the year 1974-75 under TSP Guidelines which was registered as ITDA in the year 1979 under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. The Jurisdiction of the ITDA Panposh comprises of one revenue Sub-Division (Panposh), 4 Blocks i.e. Bisra, Kuanarmunda, Lathikata & Nuagaon, 71 GPs and 391 villages. Its boundary spreads over Singbhum district in the East, Sundargarh ITDA in the West, Ranchi (Jharkhand) in the North & Bonai ITDA in the South. The ITDA is situated 22⁰ N to 23⁰ 30’N Latitude and 84⁰ 25’E to 84⁰ 7’ E Longitude. The geographical area of Panposh ITDA is a large undulating surface land with an average height of 700 feet from the sea level. It is surrounded by hills on all sides.  The whole ITDA area has historical significance with Vedavyas, Biramitrapur, which is famous for lime stone Industry, Bisra is an important business and industrial center, Hatibari is famous for lime stone quarry managed by TISCO and HOMDISTAN STEEL LTD, Mandira is a dam which supplies water to Panposh and Lathikata is famous for refractories plants.  The Sankh & Koel are two beautiful rivers flowing in the project area. The total geographical area of the ITDA area is 1840.2 Sq.kms. The total forest area of the project is about 183.33 Sq. kms. The Maximum temperature of the area is 48⁰ C and the minimum temperature recorded is 7⁰ C. On an average the annual rainfall recorded is 1570 mm. The soil type is Lateritic & Sandy loam. The major crops grown in the ITDA area are paddy, maize & pulses.

Bonai ITDP was established in the year1974-75 under TSP Guidelines which was registered as ITDA in the year 1979 under the Societies Registration Act, (No. XXI, 1860) bearing registration No-155055 / 1899 of 1978-79. The Jurisdiction of the Sundargarh ITDA comprises of one Sub-division, four blocks namely Banaigarh, Lahunipada, Koira & Gurundia, 55 GPs and 597 villages. Its boundary spreads over Bonai in the East, Sambalpur in the West, Panposh ITDA in the North and Deogarh district in the South.  The south east portion of the ITDA is covered with forest clad hills. The total geographical area of the ITDA area is 2322 sq. kms. The soil type of Bonai ITDA is Red Lateritic and Rocky in nature.  The ITDA area is crisscrossed by many hill streams. The total forest area of the ITDA is about 66,602 hect. The Maximum temperature of the area ranges from 42⁰ C to 40⁰ C and the minimum temperature is recorded as 8⁰C. On an average 90 days of rainfall is recorded. The soil type of the ITDA area is red soil, laetrile origin & rocky.  The major crops grown in the ITDA area are paddy, mustard and nizer.

PBDA, Khuntgaon was established in the year (1978-1979) during the Annual Plan (1979-80) and registered under Society Registration Act, 1860. It is located 25 kms away from Bonai Block of Sundergarh District. Presently it is functioning in its own Building at Khuntgaon. It spreads over 5 GPs in Lahunipada Block of Sundargarh District. The PBDA, Khuntgaon is situated between 18˚. 15’ to 18˚.30’N Latitude and 82˚.15’ to 82˚.30’E Longitude.  The total geographical area of the project is 174.77sq.kms. The average annual rain fall of the project area is 60 mm to 70 mm per year. The remaining months fall to the winter during which the climate is extremely cold. The summer starts from the middle of March and continues till the end of May and the temperature during this period varies from 13˚-C to 30˚-C. The type of soil found in the area is Red Lateritic type.
